Beneath the shadow

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Psalm 91:1-2 The Psalmist gives us words of comfort and assurance in this declaration about God's provision! In a day and time where people are struggling with keeping their homes, handling their bills and keeping their sanity in the midst of economic distress, the child of God can find comfort in the shadow of the Almighty God. The Bible tells us that no man can stand in the presence of the Most High God - He is so mighty and so awesome that we could not dwell in His presence! He had to contain himself in the burning of a bush just to speak to Moses! Here in this scripture we can find shelter and rest just in His shadow alone! It is wonderful to know that regardless of what I experience in my life I can find relief, resolve, reassurance and rest beneath the shadow of my Savior. It is important that we remind ourselves of God's provision in trying times, but also that we let the world and those around us know that God is able! There are a lot of people out there operating out of a "no hope" mentality. People are operating through their pain and suffering - not realizing the saving and keeping power of the Most High God. As Christians, blood-washed and bought children of God we cannot go around behaving as if we have no hope when we have the protection of a loving and caring Father. We must show the world that Christ is the answer, that when times are tough we can still be joyful. We must let them know that we have a refuge, a fortress and a deliverer! We must let them know that there is safety for those who dwell beneath the shadow of the Almighty!
