Don't flip-flop on God!

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. One of the things that most annoys me is when someone changes up on me. What does that mean? When you encounter a person that is one way one time and then the next time they are someone else. They may be for you one day, against you the next. They may speak to you one day and the very next day act as if they don't know you. We see this behavior even in politics as candidates refer to one another as "flip floppers" - they have a certain stand on an issue one minute and then they try to change it the next. That's a very annoying reality. Now, I understand that sometimes we may change/evolve/grow and our positions can do the same. You might have felt one way about an issue, but after more research, after more careful thinking, you've changed your position. That's not to what I'm referring. The worst thing you can do in your Christian walk is be a flip flopper on God! Sometimes we can go through things that are pretty difficult but we have to know for sure that the same God that delivered us from all the other "difficulties" won't just leave us to our own devices now! The scripture in James encourages us to know that when we are tested with trials and tribulations - these events only strengthen our faith. The trials are only our tests - our exams, our midterms and finals - meant to equip us with the necessary knowledge to mature us and complete us in our walk. Our faith develops perseverance and perseverance must finish its work in us. If you are uncertain, if you feel you don't have the wisdom or the knowledge to handle the trials, the tribulations - ask God! Don't fall to your own understanding, don't sit around moping about what to do, how to do, when to do - ask Him! He won't belittle you but He will give you the wisdom you need - generously! Now the key is when you ask - don't doubt - don't be like the wave of the sea going back and forth with unbelief! Don't be a flip flopper! Trust Him, believe Him and rest in Him! If you act with a double mind - everything you do will be unstable. Sometimes it seems that we are never going to get what we desire. It may even seem that we never seem to reach that point in our lives where everything is working together on our behalf. There are always problems, situations and people standing in our way, so it seems. But I'm here to encourage you to continue to fight on. Stop looking at what you can see! If you've taken it to the Lord - stop picking it up again! Don't flip flop on God, because He will never flip flop on you!
